Sun Plastics and the Environment
As you will know, polythene bags are very much in the public spotlight at this time. Sun Plastics Ltd realise the impact of Polythene bags on the environment, if not disposed of correctly.
It is a commonly believed myth that Polythene and Polythene Bags, alone, are bad for the environment. We agree that Polythene, if disposed of thoughtlessly, is detrimental to the environment. Many people are not aware that LDPE (Polythene) is fully recyclable, where facilities exist.
We need to look at the bigger picture in today's world, in terms of 'Carbon Footprints' and the usage of energy, fuel, and where our products come from in the world.
When examined closely, the cost of manufacturing TWO polythene bags of equal size, compared to the manufacture of ONE paper bag, are very close. Add to the fact that, unless recycled material is being used, a paper bag will be continually depletive to the world's tree population.
Until the recent development of fully degradable polythene bags, the main alternative to polythene has been paper bags. When you look at the cost, in terms of energy consumption etc. to make paper bags, we can see this is not a good move for the environment. Therefore we can advise that, polythene bags, as long as they are re-used, or recycled correctly, are still the better option for your packaging needs.
You can be assured that ALL our polythene products are recyclable.
You will see from the product range on our website, that we now stock several other products that are non-polythene. We will offer all alternatives here that are available, that we believe will be comparative in quality to the same product in polythene.
